Surf Ballast

Your Cobalt Surf boat is engineered for the ultimate watersports experience, featuring multiple hard ballast tanks with a capacity of up to 2,350 pounds. These ballast tanks allow you to customize the wake and wave to suit all ages and skill levels, ensuring a smooth and controlled ride.

The key to dialing in the perfect wave is balancing ballast with the number of people on board. A general rule of thumb: if you have just two people in the boat, you can fill the ballast tanks completely. With a full crew of 10, you may only need to fill them about a quarter of the way.

Note: Ballast tanks do not apply to the R33 Surf and R35 Surf models.

Surf Controls

Surfing with Cobalt’s Custom Wave Technology is effortless. Simply activate Speed Control, select a rider profile, and the system automatically adjusts ballast, trim, speed, and surf direction. With a tap on the dual Garmin Glass Cockpit touchscreen, the driver can even switch the wave from right to left while underway.

Cobalt’s Custom Wave Technology starts with the Volvo Penta FWD powertrain, featuring forward-facing Duoprops positioned safely under the boat. This design pulls the boat through the water with smoother acceleration, and improved fuel efficiency. With the drive located beneath the boat, riders enjoy a quieter, more comfortable experience with less exhaust. Plus, adjustable drive trim allows for quick, effortless wave customization.
