Role Overview

As a Boat & Yacht Sales Consultant at Strong’s Marine, you will play a critical role in connecting customers with their ideal boating solutions. Parts Associate/Manager

Position Summary

We are currently looking for a Full Time Parts Associate or Parts Manager. This role is responsible for assisting in managing the parts inventory efficiently, assisting customers with their parts needs, and ensuring the efficient operation of the marina’s parts department. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of marine products (auto or motorcycle industry welcome), excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Collaboration: Work closely with service technicians to ensure the timely acquisition of parts needed for boat repairs and maintenance. Collaborate with other marina staff to ensure seamless operations, including communicating with the sales and service departments. Proactively notify service of any likely delay due to parts availability. Collaborate with Service and Shop Managers to streamline Parts processing in a proactive manner. 

 

  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, answering inquiries about product availability, pricing, and technical details, resolving any issues in a professional manner. 

 

  • Inventory Management: Understand the workload at each of our locations and collaborate to maintain adequate Inventory Supplies at our Mattituck Bay Location to the Delight of our Clients and Team Members. At times coordinate inter-location parts transfers to meet demand in various locations. Manage and maintain inventory levels of parts and accessories, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and organizing parts. Conduct inventory audits and participate in regular inventory counts. Manage and track MSD sheets for necessary items. Coordinate with suppliers for parts orders and ensure timely deliveries. 

 

  • Order Processing: Process orders, including shipping and receiving parts, as well as handling returns and exchanges. Ensure accurate and timely processing of paperwork, including invoices, purchase orders, and inventory records. Oversee accurate parts posting to work orders to enable timely quoting and work order completions. Establish and maintain effective and professional relationships with our suppliers. 

 

  • Product Knowledge: Stay updated on the latest marine parts and accessories. Be familiar with the function and installation of various parts such as propellers, engines, electronics, and hardware. 

 

  • Warehouse Operations: Assist with the receiving, unloading, and organizing of parts deliveries. Ensure that the parts storage area is well-organized and clean for efficient retrieval. Safely handle and store hazardous materials, adhering to safety regulations.

 

  • Maintenance and Upkeep: Perform routine checks on parts and ensure proper labeling, packaging, and display of products. Maintain cleanliness in the sales and storage areas, ensuring a professional and welcoming environment for customers. 

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical/vocational training in marine or mechanical fields a plus).
  • Experience in customer service, retail, or a related field
  • Experience in the marine, auto, or motorcycle industries preferred.
  • Knowledge of marine equipment, parts, and accessories.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory management systems.
  • Ability to lift heavy parts up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.
