BOATING SAFETY

All powerboat operators will need a boating safety certificate beginning in January 2025!

Safety on the water should be a boater’s highest priority. We encourage everyone in the boating community to master safe boating practices as a foundation for many wonderful seasons on the water. Our boating safety classes, taught by a state-certified instructor, are open to the community. We invite you to join an upcoming class to become a safer and more careful boater.

Brianna’s Law enhances the current requirements as follows:

All powerboat operators regardless of age will need a boating safety certificate beginning in January 2025.
Applies to all powerboat operators:

As of January 2024, those born on or after 1/1/1978 need a safety certificate.

RESOURCES

Strong’s Marine promotes safe boating practices to ensure boaters have a great experience out on the water. As a service to our clients, we offer this abbreviated one-hour version of the New York State Boating Safety Course materials. Mastery of this material is required to rent a boat from Strong’s Marine, and every boater should be aware of this information.

Note that this shortened course is NOT STATE-APPROVED, nor is it a substitute for getting New York State certified in Boating Safety. Strong’s Marine is not liable for any accidents that may occur related to the material included in these course materials.

We encourage all boaters to obtain New York State Boating Safety Certification by completing the full 8-hour NYS Boating Safety Course.

Happy Boating!
