Role Overview

As a Boat & Yacht Sales Consultant at Strong’s Marine, you will play a critical role in connecting customers with their ideal boating solutions. Leveraging our industry-leading inventory, strong financial resources, and extensive client network, you’ll have the tools to succeed in a goal-oriented and rewarding sales environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Cultivate relationships with customers, delivering a top-notch experience that fosters trust and repeat business.
  • Leverage our inventory of over $70 million to meet the unique needs of every client.

Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years in sales, preferably in a goal-driven environment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay Range: $50,000.00 to $300,000.00 annually (based on experience and commission).

Responsibilities

  • New boat commission, new systems, custom request installs, sea trials
  • Mechanical diagnostics, troubleshooting, general maintenance

Parts Manager

Position Summary: This year-round position is responsible for managing the inventory, procurement, and distribution of marina parts and accessories. This role involves maintaining relationships with suppliers, accurate inventory to support marina operations, and providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers. The Parts Manager will oversee the parts department, manage staff, and ensure that all parts are in stock and readily available for boat repairs, maintenance, and upgrades.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Marina Teamwork & Collaboration:

  • Supervise and train parts department staff to ensure efficient operations.
  • Develop and maintain effective teamwork within the department.
  • Schedule and manage departmental workflow to optimize performance.
  • Work closely with service technicians to ensure the timely acquisition of parts needed for boat repairs and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with other marina staff to ensure seamless operations, including communicating with the sales and service departments.
  • Proactively notify service of any likely delay due to parts availability.
  • Collaborate with Service and Shop Managers to streamline Parts processing in a proactive manner.

 

Inventory Management:

  • Understand the workload at each of our locations and collaborate to maintain adequate Inventory Supplies at our Mattituck Bay Location to the Delight of our Clients and Team Members.
  • At times coordinate inter-location parts transfers to meet demand in various locations.
  • Manage and maintain inventory levels of parts and accessories, including ordering, receiving, stocking, organizing, tracking and reporting.
  • Conduct inventory audits and participate in regular inventory counts.
  • Manage and track MSD sheets for necessary items.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for parts orders and ensure timely deliveries.

 

Procurement:

  • Source and process orders, including shipping and receiving parts, as well as handling returns and exchanges.
  • Establish relationships and negotiate with suppliers and vendors to obtain the best pricing and delivery terms.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of paperwork, including invoices, purchase orders, and inventory records. 
  • Oversee accurate parts posting to work orders to enable timely quoting and work order completions.
  • Establish and maintain effective and professional relationships with our suppliers.

 

Customer Service:

  • Provide excellent customer service, answering inquiries about product availability, pricing, and technical details, and resolving any issues in a professional manner.

 

Sales and Profitability:

  • Monitor and analyze parts sales to ensure profitability.
  • Recommend pricing strategies to increase parts sales and improve revenue.

 

Record Keeping and Reporting:

  • Keep detailed records of inventory levels, orders, and sales.
  • Prepare reports on inventory status, sales trends, and departmental performance for management.

 

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and guidelines within the parts department.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree preferred).
  • Proven experience in parts management, inventory control, or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of Parts Inventory Management (marine, auto, motorcycle).
  • Knowledge of marine equipment, parts, and accessories preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Proven problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy parts up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.
